Shine a Light 2015

As we approach the end of another year, it is time for many of us to celebrate the joy of Christmas, but for all of us to reflect on the passing year, and our thoughts of loved ones close to our hearts. The Louise Hamilton Centre will be a legacy to be carried forward for many years to come. So many local people have contributed, a celebration in its own right – so help us celebrate with a light. If you would like to remember someone special to you or if you wish to show your support, add your dedication on the ‘Shine a Light’ website - http://bit.ly/sHiNe. Bwell choose The Louise Hamilton Centre

A group of students have given up their summer holidays to undergo a 4 week summer camp program delivered by Bwell Health Club.  This consisted of two weeks of summer camp one
week of project planning and one week of delivering and planning an event.  Whilst camping on the second week at Burgh Hall various people and charities came out from the local community and visited the students to put forward their various causes.  The Louise Hamilton Centre was the chosen charity from the students and Maxine Taylor fundraiser for the Centre was delighted with the news.

Jade Roberts one of the sixteen students quoted “Even though I have given up my summer holidays, it's worth it as I have made many new friends and learnt/improved on many skills.
One of the best things about this project is that we've got to meet many local important people we didn't think we'd ever see like Brandon Lewis MP, local fire station, potters, burgh hall and many more. Last week we were shown around the Palliative Care East centre called The Louise Hamilton Centre based at the James Paget hospital where we met Maxine Taylor. We enjoyed looking around and have decided to fund raise for Palliative Care East.”

Events planned by the students are a charity cycle challenge (60 miles) and a charity car wash event which took place on Thursday 13th August, and the students are pleased that they are on track to hit the £1,000 target they have set. The end result will be presented at the centre on Friday 21st August at 1pm and the mayor has very kindly agreed to attend.

We are hosting a /cosplay fete on Wednesday 19th August at Bwell gym.  There will be many different stalls such as face painting, Kung Fu Panda stall, Pokémon target shooting, Wonder Woman sports therapy massage, Batman shoot out, Alice in Wonderland apple bobbing, Toy Story blindfold lucky dip, The Cube, Captain Hook hooking the duck, Mad Hatters tea party, SpongeBob throw, Ten green lanterns, pin the hat on Dumbo, Robin Hood target darts, Red Hood gaming tent, Dr Who selling books, raffle staff.  The Gym, Hair and Beauty is also open for business. If you are running out of things to do this summer feel free to come down and see us.  If there are any /cosplay groups that are interested in taking part please contact Spencer McCormack on 01493 603430 spencermccormack@hotmail.co.uk

SKY DIVE RAISES £1315.00

Della Rohrbasser ( pictured) and  a work colleague took part in a sky dive on Saturday 23rd May 2015 in aid of Palliative Care East .   Della said afterwards
It was truly amazing and one of the best experiences of my life. I would recommend everyone to do it as It’s really awesome and not half as stomach churning as some fairground rides. The feeling of floating through the air is like being in a different world.
The whole day was filled with excitement, joy and total emotion.  It was made even more special for me as doing it in memory of my dear mum and to raise money for you guys.
To date we have raised £1923.87 which includes £1315.00 from the parachute jump towards The Louise Hamilton Centre. Fund Raising Co-ordinator Maxine Taylor thanked Della for raising this wonderful amount of money and Della was presented with a certificate for the amount raised.
